FAQs

What can counselling help me with?

Counselling can help with many different issues including:

  • Stress

  • Depression & low mood

  • Feeling stuck

  • Low self esteem

  • Anxiety

  • Relationship problems

  • Loss

  • Checking in on how you’re feeling

If you would like to discuss if counselling is right for you, please contact me.

What if I don’t feel ready?

Counselling can be challenging especially if you are talking about things from the past and sometimes you may come and realise it is still too painful to talk about things. You may not yet be ready, and that’s OK.

You may wish to take a break from counselling at times, and come back to it when you are ready. It is your journey and you will know what feels right.

How often will I need to come?

At the start of counselling, most people come once a week. This allows us to get to know each other quickly and start the therapy process. As sessions progress, some people come fortnightly or even monthly to check in.

We work one session at a time and ultimately this is your choice based on your own circumstances.

Can I cancel or change a session?

We all know that life happens and I aim to be as flexible as I can if you need to change sessions.

If you do not attend a session without cancelling in advance, or if you cancel within 48 hours of your session, I do ask that you pay a cancellation fee.

What are your fees?

A 50 minute session is £50 and couples counselling is £70. I offer reduced rates for students and trainee counsellors. I also have a set number of concessionary places available for those on a low income.

For schools and businesses - bespoke pricing is available, contact me to discuss.

When do you work?

Sessions usually occur weekly at a set time, however we can discuss options if this isn't possible for you. It’s important counselling works for you and your life.

I offer flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

I need to speak to someone urgently and I don’t know who to call.

If you are in crisis and need immediate support please contact your GP, emergency services or the Samaritans (Call 116 123) where there is someone available to talk to 24 hours a day.

Unfortunately, I am not always available to answer the phone or reply to emails immediately. If you are worried about your safety then please seek support now and do not wait.

What if I feel like you aren’t the right counsellor?

You may realise that you don’t feel comfortable and would rather work with someone else. I might not be the right fit for your needs, and it is fine to be honest and open about this. I can help you with places to look for other counsellors who might better suit you.
